About the AuthorMy name is Kacie Lynn McPherson, and this web page was created to display my teaching experiences during my PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice Residency with Topeka Pharmacy and Purdue University College of Pharmacy. I completed my PharmD at Manchester University College of Pharmacy in Fort Wayne, IN. I had dabbled in teaching as a student and discovered a love for education!
Looking for a PGY-1 residency close to home, I was accepted into a residency program located in Indiana which highly valued the use of a resident for patient and student education. Unfortunate events led to my original residency program being dissolved, but thanks to the efforts of Purdue University and Topeka Pharmacy, I was able to continue a residency experience with a twist! I was submersed in teaching opportunities no other resident has ever experienced! I not only had the experience of an independent pharmacy, but I also became a faculty member of the Purdue University Professional Program Laboratory (PPL). Part of the residency experience is to grow as a professional and educator. Purdue University offers the Indiana Pharmacy Teaching Certificate Program (IPTeC) for those who wish to pursue advancement in education. Being given the opportunity to work with the pharmacy students of Purdue and the community of Topeka Pharmacy, I decided to pursue this certificate! I have been told that I will "forever be a student". I hope to pass on this love for learning through education! |
